Ode to Mike

There once was a guy called Mike
Up Everest he would hike
He would make it no worries
If he didn't eat too many curries

As he reached the top
The champagne corks went "POP"
He climbed the highest peak
And you thought he was a geek?

Next he'll be in "Show-Biz"
Love from Ciec and Liz
Good luck Mike

Place an order for any food you want and I'll bake up a storm for when you return (or take you to a restaurant!!!) That's yr mother speaking - Dad still has difficulty boiling an egg. Which reminds me - you don't get the water to boilin point I assume? so how do you avoid all those little nasties?

Anonymous said...

High Mike
Trust that your hemoglobin are working OT and starting to multiply quicker than a white whiskered Chinese corner deli store owner checking on his abacus how much change he should pay the little indian boy wanting a broom to do some house chores.

So you have reached Camp 2. It took a few years to get here (10 or so), but I hope that the time that it takes you to go from Camp 1, through Camp IV and prayfully to the top will be all within your current expeditions plans. You'll have to tell us all when you get back which segment the sherpas are now calling the Dunjey Step :))

As our mate Johnnie says, Keep walking! I bet the years with the boys have made you mentally tough enough to make it - and we all know the endurance you have. You can do it!

Wish you well for the next phase of the climb. Be careful of Sheeny if he's around - this is when he's at his most dangerous.

High Mike
So now that you've been in all 3 camps, which one are you going to put in an offer for?? some seeing some pics on the net, they might need a little work to make them a bit more homely :)

But seriously, hope that the legs are still strong, the appetite still healthy and above all, the mind still focused. As the wiseman AJ once said "got get 'em tiger"..... and incase you ever feel a bit tired and want to sit down (probably not :)) just think of Pete's gold finger under you, encouraging you to move forward.

Onwards and upwards!

Michael Dunjey is recovering at his Manning home, but all 10
fingers have been damaged and the feeling in three is not
expected to return for six to nine months.

Rubbish, your fingers were only slightly frost nipped. Bearly beyound cold. They recovered within an hour. Come on!!

Frostbite struck on May 2 when Mr Dunjey was leading the
team up Lhotse Face — 100m below a rest camp at 7400m.

Again, rubbish. At about 6600m, just above Camp 2 at the start of teh Lhotse Face where you were at the back of the group.

Why all the bullshit!!
